Title: A Fine Line

Summary: Nothing made Sirius more elated than being the focus of Snape's hate. It's something he'd do anything to maintain.

Note: This was the start of an abandoned fic that was evidently intended for Darkfest '09. At least, that's what I'm assuming from the title of the file... =/ I think it was abandoned because it didn't feel right to add anything more, and it wasn't nearly dark enough. Actually veers into the warm fuzzy a bit. o_O

Note: This is a cross-over with Neil Gaiman's "Sandman," a bit. Because I know Lore likes it, and I also like it, and so thought this would be a smashing idea. Also I was drinking Sandeman port while writing it, so it just seemed so FITTING.

This is a companion to my BLU2 story, "The Tale of the Tengu Prince and the Wolf". Below are a list of the translated characters' names, their kanji, and meanings.

Severus = severe = Takahito 峻酷 (normal pronunciation is shunkoku)

Harold = military leader = Takeshi 武 (warrior)

Albus = white = Shiro 白

Voldemort = fly/flee from death = Shinoga 死逃

Malfoy = bad faith = Fushin 不信
Though such a noble family would likely not have such a negative name, and would probably use 風神 (wind+god), thus making "Fushin" be a pun.

Lucius = light = Mitstutake 光威 (majestic light)

Narcissa = daffodil = Suisen 水仙

Draco = dragon = Ryu 龍 (outdated kanji, no longer used)

Bellatrix = female warrior = Takeko 武子
Her family name, Kurouji 黒氏, means "house/clan/family of black".

I think I got 'em all? The two exceptions are James and Ron. Ron I named Ran because of admitted laziness, and because he has a split-second part. James should translate to "supplanter," but I used Yoshirou, who probably uses 義博 (there are different combinations that sound the same), meaning "extremely just/moral/good." Probably decided on that because he was supposed to be the counter to Shinoga's extreme evilness.

In a laughably adolescent moment of self-pity, I realized I'm not cool.

But, I was never cool. A bit late for me to care now, right? ;D

I may never have hundreds of adoring fans, but I've got some awesome friends--online and off. And really, I think that's loads better.

I wanted to doodle at work, and asked the lupin_snape chat for a prompt. Azurerosa said watching the sunset together...I don't think this is what she had in mind...

Why am I reading X-men slash now? Why am I searching for Scott/Logan when I would never have even considered that pairing before seeing it existed? What is WRONG with me?!

I hope Snupin Santa will help get my mind back in order...

So. My personal creative endeavor is finished. For the moment. Now I just need to find a literary agent. I've started the process, but now it is the waiting period. The first of many, no doubt. I hate waiting...

ANYWAY. This means my brain is actually free to focus on fandom again, which means I can hopefully finish my incomplete Snupin projects and maybe start some others. In fact, I like this idea very much, as it will take my mind off all that nervous waiting. :D

Though, admittedly, my creative focus will also be on costuming for the rapidly-approaching Dragon*Con. Still! I'll need to take breaks from sewing and crafting, and I can use those breaks for writing or drawing. In fact, I'm gonna do some drawin' right now. I still owe some people some sketches!

Now that I'm done writing for it, I can't help bouncily anticipating the start of BLU2! I'm so eager to see the art and read the stories inspired by them. And totally excitedly curious to see what my drawing inspired. It was perhaps an odd piece, so I can't imagine what it spawned.

Going out to eat Japanese food to celebrate. Well, ok, so I was going out to have Japanese tonight, anyway, but it's FITTING.

I am writing porn at work.

Well. I work at a bed store. So, at least it provides the right...er...inspiration?

My free time is currently dedicated to finishing a large project concerning original fiction. This is why there have been no updates on wip fics.

HOWEVER.

I will be doing this year's BLU for lupin_snape. I already have over the min required wordcount for it, but there is still much left to write. As soon as my original project is done (which I hope to complete within the next week or so, despite my work schedule), I will be pouring all of my focus into BLU.

Also!

I already decided and sort of announced in chat, but I will formally announce here: the Patronus Series is not going to have another chapter. Every attempt at writing the next chapter falls flat, and feels forced. I believe this to mean that the story should not be messed with anymore. To add anything else will only hurt it.

This means, if I'm not mistaken, that As a Raven's Wing should be the only wip left open...? Er, and Dance of Knives, I suppose. But I have to be in the right frame of mind for that, though the final part is nearly done. AaRW's next chapter is also nearly done, and there's more artwork for it. However, it will have to wait in line behind BLU.

Once again I just needed to write something, anything, in order to help relieve a bit of a writing block. The lovely gals in the lupin_snape chat helped provide several prompts, and I have created this little ficlet.
